Greenhouse

Our season really starts before we open in the spring. In mid February we fire up a small section of the greenhouse. Planting starts with pansies, begonias and petunias. It is necessary to start that early to get finished hanging baskets ready for the may opening. We section off a small area for starting seeds keeping it warm and moist for good germination and as we transplant seedlings into larger containers we expand the area we keep heated.

As February turns to March it is time to start the annuals. During the last week of February we fill flats with the six pack containers and begin planting the annuals so they will also be ready for opening week. Also in early march we start tomato plants for the early crop.

April begins the busiest time in the greenhouse as it is time to start the vegetable plants. Tomatoes, Peppers, Cukes along with many others are planted. The whole greenhouse is heated at this time and is now getting full. Along with planting there is plenty of transplanting, watering and tender loving care going into keeping the plants happy and healthy.
